Philippine Popular Culture

Philippine culture is something that defined the greatest value of importance that gives the Filipino people the identity that's making us different from the rest of the population, making us undeniably unique and more appealing to the rest of the world population.

Philippine culture is something that I can compare to a colorful gem, as colorful as the island group of the Philippines that can be seen on the map, each of the Island groups from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao has its own traditional and cultural flavor that hit wonders to all the hard-works and resiliency of the Filipinos as a whole, that they even inherited from their ancestors and was continually passed to the generation of young people that is honing uniqueness to the people of Philippines.

My understanding of the Philippine popular culture on the other side is that it is something exceptional from the term itself, "popular" which means Philippine popular culture responds to the current trends that exist in this modern society, that is intended to satisfy the needs and provide the wants of the general public. Most commonly, popular culture is associated with a set of behavior and beliefs that can be expressed through the current systems such as social media, lifestyle, fashion, and entertainment to where it acquires the approval and affection of the majority of the population. And through the use of these current systems, people have the freedom to make contents that can make an impact on the life of other people. For example, Youtube vloggers and social media influencers use the media to sway and influence people's way of living in a way like uploading inspirational posts like workout photos or videos, another way is they also use the media as a way to create new trends that can attract public attention like TikTok videos in which people tend to recreate it and a lot more will follow. Another example, just recently there is a trend that most the youngsters are attracted to like drinking of milk tea and ice coffee and because of its popularity shops can be seen almost everywhere, and it is all because of the influence of social media and the influencers that is creating trends that are being followed by a mass population of people.

Popular culture is something that we Filipino's did adopt or something that is inspired by other countries such as Japan, China, Korea, and Hollywood, wherever it is from, it can be from their fashion style, lifestyle, foods, or whatever it is as long as it provides happiness without invalidating anyone or anything. Popular culture comes and goes, and it is very evident through time. People live with a lot of changes happening around, to which popular culture belongs and technically it is inessential but it urges to give people the life to enjoy for and in a way, it is also something to treasure as it has so much opportunity to offer not just in this current age but somewhat to the future generations too.
